The harvest is plentiful — pray for laborers
Drawn from teaching on Last Days with Brandon Biggs.
Jesus said, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38, KJV). He also said, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” (John 9:4, KJV).
A recent Last Days prayer stream kept returning to that picture: wayward family called home, urgency in the body of Christ, and a harvest of souls — without us needing to invent a calendar date. The biblical marker is plain enough. In the last days we should expect both hardness and a real gathering. Our part is not to set the day. Our part is to pray for laborers and to be one.
I’m not numbering billions. I’m not dating a revival. I’m noting what Scripture already told us to watch for and to do: ask the Lord of the harvest for workers, open our mouths when He prompts, and rejoice when even one person comes to Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior — heaven does (Luke 15:10).
What we can do
- Pray Matthew 9:38 out loud this week — for your street, your job, your church.
- Name the wayward ones before God and keep interceding without giving up.
- Work while it is day — one conversation, one invitation, one quiet act of love.
- Refuse date-setting. “But of that day and hour knoweth no man…” (Matthew 24:36, KJV).
